Man Dies In Hospital (N.Z. Press Association) NAPIER. July 19 A sailor who was winched out of the hold of the Tuhoe on a stretcher at the port of Napier yesterday afternoon died in the Napier Hospital early this morning from severe head injuries. He was George Bartlett, of Bartlett street, Christchurch. Captain Bartlett was hut on the bead by a falling hatch cover. He was in the hold when a number of sections covering the hold fell away. An ambulance driver rode a stretcher, holding Captain Bartlett, out of the hold and on to the wharf, from where he was taken to hospital Japtaln Bartlett was acting as first mate of the Tuhoe He was a captain in the service of the Northern Steam Ship Company for many years, and was well known in the coastal tirade.
