In future water-borne sewerage charges in respect of property used for educational purposes would be paid by education authorities to local bodies on the same basis as for Crown land, the Minister of Education (Mr Tennent) announced tonight. At present no sewerage charges were paid on educational property, said Mr Tenn ent.

Where land purchased for educational use was temporarily let for private purposes. general rates and service charges would be paid on the same basis as for Crown land.

“The two changes will bring payment in respect of educational lands a stage further into line with the policy adopted for Crown lands generally.” said Mr Tennent.
