Bag Snatchers In Court

(N.Z. Press Association) ROTORUA, July 9. Two men who snatched a bag containing cash and cheques valued at £306 from a businessman in a Lower Hutt street on June 27, and drove away in a waiting car, appeared before Mr G. J. Donne, S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court at Rotorua today. The men, Peter Anthony Byrne, aged 23, a welder, and Donald Hogg, aged 22, a clerk, both of Wellington, pleaded guilty to one charge of stealing from James Thomas on June 27 and to one of attempting 1 to steal from a girl on the same date. The Magistrate remanded them for sentence.
