3YD
Sir,—ln the announcement which heralded the estab-, lishment of Station 3YD, the local broadcasting people were definite that there would be “restricted advertising." That little bit of advance publicity was obviously made with tongue in cheek. Every record is followed by an advertisement. The records played are, on the whole, quite pleasing, as is the "personalised announcing.” There is a determination to squeeze the advertising “lemon” until the pips squeak! Dunkirk, of heroic memory, may have been the “time of the little ships,” but of 3YD’s sessions it is quite definitely the time of the little shops.—Yours, etc, JUST ANOTHER RACKET. July 5, 1963. [When this letter was referred to the district manager, Mr J. F. Skedden, he said that unfortunately, through a misunderstanding, advertisements had been broadcast in the manner mentioned by the writer. Steps had already been taken to correct this.]
