T.L. HAYDON LEAVING
Three Years In U.K.
Canterbury soccer and cricket will suffer a loss when T. J. Haydon. 20-year-old representative player, leaves for England in November, for about three years. Since coining to New Zealand in 1954. Haydon has represented Canterbury in the under-12, under-14, under-16, under-18, and under-20 soccer teams, and also in (tie Junior National Cup. This is his fourth season in the senior representative side. The son of a former English first division player, and Canterbury director of coaching. Mr F. Haydon, he represented Christchurch Boys’ High School at soccer, cricket, athletics and swimming. A promising young Wicketkeeper. Haydon played for Canterbury in the Brabin Shield under-21 and the Rothman’s tournament under-33 teams. While playing for St. Albans against Old Boys last season, he set a record for the greatest number of catches taken by a wicket-keeper in an innings, in district cricket. He took six
catches—and dropped one. Haydon is returning to Harrow. the town where he was bom. as a trainee with a manufacturing firm.
