PAPANUI PARISH EXTENDED
New Church Hall Approved The Presbyterian parish at St. Giles is to be extended and plans for a new ohurch hall and manse to be built in Farrington avenue are going ahead. The parent congregation at St. Giles has already raised £ 1200 towards the building of the church hall. A £2OOO grant will be sought from the home ministry committee of the Presbyterian Assembly and £5OO from the Centenary Fund Board.
An application will also be made to the State Advances Corporation for a
loan towards the cost of building the manse. The Christchurch Presbytery last evening approved plans for the church hall and authorised a start on work. The manse plans will be revised in consultaton with the parish.
