Jockey Injured

An apprentice jockey, William Martin, suffered concussion and facial abrasion a when a horse he was riding in work fell on him at the Riccarton racecourse yesterday morning. The horse, which was later destroyed lay on top of Martin for some minutes until another jockey noticed what had happened. Martin was taken to the Christdhunch Hospital by ambulance. His condition* last evening was reported to be satisfactory Martin is apprenticed to Mr J. R. Shaw, at 96 Middlepark road.
