Karate Deaths Suspected

A taxi-driver, John James O'Grady, who was an expert in karate and judo, is believed to have killed his wife and three young children in their beds and then drowned himself in the sea off Elwood, an inner Melbourne suburb, today. Karaite originated in China more than 500 years ago, and is a>n open-handed type of fighting, which can stun, maim, or kill.

O'Grady’s mother found a note from her son in the kitchen, scribbled on a block of taxi-drivers’ work sheets, which said he had killed the family. The bodies of Mrs O Grady, jun., and two girls were in one bedroom and the body of a boy in another.
