Winner Of Young Farmers’ Contest

Miss J. Werner, a 25-year-old young farmer from Australia, will visit South Canterbury this week as a guest of the Country Girls’ Club of the district. Miss Werner, a member of the Senior Young Farmers of Victoria Movement, won a competition open to women members of the organisation, entitling her to a three-month trip to New Zealand under the sponsorship of the Australia and New Zealand Bank.

As well as being capable on the farm, Miiss Werner is a keen youth and community worker in her district. She makes many of her own clothes and gives needlework lessons to aboriginals in the Dimboola area.

During her stay in South Canterbury, Miss Werner will be the guest of the president of the Geraldine Country Girls’ Club. Miss A. South. She will later visit Marlborough and Wellington.
