Radio Workers’ Award
Increases ranging from 6s 8d a week to 12s 8d a week have been granted in the new award of toe South Island Electrical Workers 'Radio Section) Union which is deemed to have come into force on June 1, 1963. Radio designers have received an extra 12s 8d a week to bring their wage to £l7, while salesmen-servicemen substantially in charge of one unit shops have been granted another 10s 7d a week to give them £l5 15s Other increases, with toe new weekly rate in parenthesis. are: radio technician, Ils 3d (£l5 10s); radio servicemen with full licence, 10s 8d (£15); radio servicemen without full licence. 7s (£l3 14s); assemblers, 6s lOd (£l2 18s); all other male workers over 21, 6s 8d (£l2 7s 6d). Junior assemblers, aerial installers and other youths have been given increases ranging from 3s 3d to 4s sd. Female workers under 21 will get an additional 3s 4d a week. The minimum wage for workers over 21 is now £9 2s—an increase of 6s 9d.
An unqualified preference clause has been included in toe award.
