Washdyke Meeting Next Tuesday

The second day of the South Canterbury Jockey Club’s winter meeting will be held on Tuesday. This was approved yesterday by the Minister of Internal Affairs, Sir Leon* Gotz. The decision to postpone today’s meeting was made by the club’s committee yesterday morning. It was considered that the track was unsafe for racing and the car parks unuseable. Three Inches of rain has fallen at Washdyke

since Wednesday night, and it was still raining heavily late yesterday afternoon. “To have held the meeting on Monday would have still been impossible." said Mr L. R. Oiiff, secretary of the club, yesterday. “We have received * special longrange forecast from Wellington and the outlook is not bright. Continuous rain is forecast for the next 24 hours, then showers are predicted for the following 24 hours.”
