WELLINGTON CATHEDRAL

First Services Next April (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, July 5. The new Wellington Cathedral wi ll be opened on April 23 nex>t. The Bishop of Wellington (the Rt. Rev. H. W. Baines) told the Wellington Diocesan Synod that final services would be held in St Paul’s on April 10. It was hoped to finish the interior of the new cathedral as far as the temporary wall by next September. The site would be cleared by December ready tor laying out the grounds, and the furnishings and installations in the new cathedral will be ready by April. “When occupied, the building will be half-completed." he said.
