Cliignell, the headmaster, said God had called the school into being “It’s to be a Christian school —a Christian preparatory school for girls and boys,” he said. He believed a Christian preparatory school must produce Christian boys and girls. “I’ve seen it happen in some devilish surroundings," he added. The school would have a “Wendy house” in which children would learn to spell from tags on familiar objects, and new ideas and methods would be employed. Emphasising his belief in the importance of a Christian atmosphere. Mr Chignell said he felt mathematics became a much more interesting subject for a child when it was done "to the glory of God.” The school will begin in February with four classes — two primer classes and two standards.
