LORD ASTOR HOME
Nothing To Say On Scandal
(N Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) LONDON. July 2.
Viscount Astor returned to London by air last night with his wife, the former fashion model, Bronwen Pugh, after a five-day holiday in France. The 55-y ear-old Viscount is the eldest son of the second Viscount Astor and his American-born wife Nancy, Viscountess Astor. He is a nephew of Baron Astor of Hever. chief proprietor of “The Times."
Asked if he was going to give evidence in the enquiry into the Profumo scandal being conducted by Lord Denning. Viscount Astor replied: “I have nothing to say of any description.” The judical inquiry into the security aspects of the Profumo affair entered its second week yesterday. Wasted Words Marilyn Rice-Davies, the 18-year-old blonde who had the British public gasping over her revelations in the Stephen Ward Court case, today left Britain with these departing words: “I am notorious. I will go down in history as another Lady Hamilton "
Unfortunately her historic parallel was largely wasted. The three American tourists at London Airport who had asked the self-composed beauty who she was did not know about Lady Hamilton. Lord Nelson’s mistress. With a shrug, Miss RiceDavies walked briskly to the aircraft which was taking her for a Mediterranean holiday in Majorca. She had spent nearly half an hour posing for news photographers and tourists, many of whom had no idea who she was but were caught in the crush.
