Firemen Seek Fire
Two fire engines raced round Allenton, a suburb • f Ashburton for about 15 minutes looking for a fire at 2.15 yesterday afternoon A passer-by had rung the Ashburton Volunteer F.re Brigade and said there was a fire at Wilson’s place in Allenton.
Firemen, directed by local residents, called on all the Wilsons they could find before returning to base without finding a fire. Reales ng their dilemma, a neighbour rang the brigade and sail the fire was at the home of a Mr G Wilson, of 38 Harrison street.
A third engine left the station and arrived in time to discover the occupants extinguishing the remains of a kerosene heater fire
Some clothing and two cupboards were damaged
