Mr N. S. Coad Commissioner

Canterbury fend dtatrict will shortly hoye the youngest Commissioner of Crown Lands in the country. Mr N. S. Coad, who is 39. will take over tho port early next month from Mr G. J Watt, who has retired. Mr Coad, who has been acting - Commissioner of Crown Lands in Wellington, graduated bachelor of commerce from Victoria University ahd in 1955 be took a two-year course for a diploma in public administration. Mir Coad joined the Land* Department in Wellington In 1940 and except for two years during the war he remained in the head office of the

department until 1951. He then became private secretary to Mr Marshall. who was then Minister of Health. In 1958 he accompanied Mr MahfheM to a Colombo Plan conference in New Delhi. He was a Maison officer for the Colombo Plan conference In Wellington in 1956 and for the S.E.A.T.O. conference In IMB. In the same year he became assistant-commissioner of Crown Lands in Wellington. Since late last year he has been acting-Commis-sioner. He has been chairman of the Tongariro National Park Board. Mir Coed is married with tour children.
