VISIT BY LIGHT AIRCRAFT

A Cessna Skymaster, similar to the two shown here, is due to arrive in New Zealand for a 10-day tour beginning on July 3. It will land at Christchurch airport on July 8. The Sky master is being flown from Port Moresby, New Guinea, by the managing-director of Rural Aviation, Ltd., of New Plymouth (Mr M. King). The Skymaster’s twin engines are positioned fore and aft. Flight characteristics are the same as a singleengined aircraft when using only one engine.

Lt has an impressive rate l of climb and oan maintain a high single-engine v service ceiling on either engine Both take-off and landing distance requirements are less than any other aircraft in the light twin field. The Skymaster has a gross weight of 39001 b, a top speed of 183 m.p.h. and a cruising speed of 173 m.p.h. It has a cruising range of 745 miles or 1040 miles with optional long-range fuel tanks It can take off in 625 ft and land in 655 ft.

The plane will give demonstration flights at all main centres for aero clubs, Sirlines and civil aviation authorities. Ln the South Island the Skymaster will be seen at Christchurch. Timaru, and Queenstown. In Wellington it will be inspected by the Minister of Civil Aviation (Mr McAlpine) and Civil Aviation Administration officials.
