CAR RUNS OFF ROAD
Woman Killed, Three Injured (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, June 27. A woman was killed and her sister and two others injured today when a rental carjran off the road near the Wafkanae river bridge and struck a telegraph pole. The dead woman was: Miss Jacqueline Abercrombie, a passenger in the front seat of the car. She struck her head on the windshield and died of her injuries on the way to hospital. The injured are: Miss Lola Abercrombie, who was treated at Wellington Hospital for minor injuries to the forehead and foot and discharged. Miss Jillian Todd, who was admitted to hospital with concussion. Her condition tonight was described as comfortable. Miss Margaret Burrows, whose condition was reported as satisfactory after she was admitted for treatment to. an arm injury. The women, all Australians, were waitresses at the St. George Hotel, Wellington. A police spokesman said the accident happened about 10 a.m. on a stretch of reconstructed road.
