CORONATION STONE

Abbey Affirms Authenticity (IV.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) LONDON, June 26. A claim that the Coronation Stone taken from Westminster Abbey by Scottish nationalists in 1950 was still in Scotland was rejected by Abbey authorities last night. “The Times’’ said today. A statement by a Scottish nationalist group sent to London newspapers yesterday claimed that the stone returned to London was not the real stone. The receiver-general of the abbey, Mr W. R. J. Pullen, said he was perfectly satisfied that the abbey possessed the authentic stone. He had support, Reuter said, from the 94-year-old secretary of the Scottish National Congress,! Mr R. E. Muirhead, who said last night he had no doubt that the stone brought south in 1951 was the same as the one taken from Westminster Abbey.
