CONSTABLE SENT TO GAOL
Six Months’ Term For Theft (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, June $6. A constable who admitted a charge of theft, was sent to prison for six months by Mr S. Hardy, S.M.. in the Magistrate’s Court ait Papakura today. The accused, Donald Patrick Pomeroy, aged 24, was charged with stealing £l2 10s, the property of the Police Department. Deteotive-Sergeent F. N. Shannon said an envelope containing £l2 10s had been placed in the safe ait the Papakura police station. It was missing when the station records were inspected and a similar envelope containing a piece of paper was in its place. Half an hour laiter. Pomeroy handed the money to his superior officer. He said/ he intended to put it back.
