McKenzie-Fendalton Kindergarten Ball

Brightly coloured posters depicting nursery-rhj’me characters decorated the Winter Garden last evening for the sixteenth annual ball of the McKenzie and Fendalton Kindergartens. A novel feature was a large replica of Humpty Dumpty sitting with the orchestra. Baskets of silver bracken and red berries hung in the ballroom and guilded flax and flowers decorated the foyer dnd lounge.

A floor show was presented by the Sydney Hollis School of Dancing and Mr Hollis and his partner gave an exhibition of ballroom'dancing. More than 300 guests were welcomed by the president of the McKenzie Kindergarten (Mrs R. S. Abbott) and the president of the Fendalton Kindergarten (Mrs W. Yorke).

Mrs Abbott’s gown, which was made from a marine blue silk sari with a gold border design, featured a strapless petal bodice and an ankle length bell skirt with a deep gold band at the hemline. It was worn with a matching stole. Mrs Yorke chose a fulllength grown of black French brocade patterned with aqua blue flowers with the fitting bodice swathed with blue lame. The deep folds in the back of the skirt were caught with small bows. The gown was worn with a short jacket of blue lame. Mrs A. J. D. Dearsley. re-

presentative of the Free Kindergarten Association council, chose a full length gown of black silk, screen printed in gold with a panelled skirt. The simply-styled bodice of the gown was piped at the waist with black velvet which formed two large flowers at the back. Members of the committee which organised the ball were: Mrs K. D. Beswick (convener), Mr D. G. Reid (treasurer), Mesdames G. A. Toy, L. M. Johnson. I. R. Steer, J. Young. R. D. Harman, W. M. Bell, G. B. Battersby. G. A. Dunbar, J. A. Reese, F. G. . McCreanor, Messrs L. Heydon, G. L. Evans, and R. L. Tapleg
