£142,000 WAGE LOSS

Of Stoppages
More wages were lost through the 18 industrial stoppages in the first three months, of this year than in any quarter since the 1951 waterfront dispute. The wage loss was £142,231, says the May issue of the Abstract of Statistics.
The stoppages resulted in 31,385 working days being lost This was 10,603 days more than 20,782 days lost during the 33 stoppages in the three months to March 31, 1962. Wage losses then were £112,862. Stoppages in the meat freezing industry were responsible in the latest quarter for 84 per cent, of the losses.
Ln the quarter ending December, 1962, 21 industrial stoppages resulted in 34,030 working days being lost, with a wage loss of £106,561, says the abstract
