Braking In The Wet

When braking on slippery winter roads, try to avoid locking the wheels. Overseas research has shown a car stops more quickly if the wheels have not locked, for when they lock on a slippery surface the car slides bodily and may even go into a skid. Always remember water is an excellent lubricant for rubber. Wet rubber-soled shoes may cause the feet to slip off the pedals, and tyres easily lose their grip on the road.
