BIG TALLOW TANK FOR DUNEDIN

This tank, built to hold 250 tons of tallow, is being taken to Dunedin from the yard of the Christchurch engineering firm of Andersons, Ltd. The haul to Dunedin began yesterday, and is expected to take more than two days The tank is in three sections, and weight 23 tons. There will be 11 bridges on the way which will be too narrow for the 22ft diameter load. Jacking gear has been devised to make use of the winches on the three heavy road-haulage transporters, and the sections will be raised to clear the bridge sides. The tank. 28ft high, was built at a cost of £4OOO for the Dunedin Master Butchers'’ Association. It has heating coils inside it, designed to keep the tallow liquid. There is only one other tallow tank as large as this in New Zealand, and it was built a few weeks ago by the same firm for the Canterbury Bye-prod-ucts Company, Ltd.
