Cycling In Trouble
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. June 7. Unless urgent steps are taken to improve its finances, the New Zealand Amateur Cycling Association could be in severe difficulties within six years, said the council chairman (Mr C. G. Clark) a* the association’s annual meeting tonight. “Over the last 30 years we have looked to our national championships to augment the funds hy some £2OO-£300,” he said. The council’s share from the last title meet-
tag wm £8 6s 7d. “We now hove a cash balance of some £2OOO. At the present rate, with > teams having to go overseas, we could be out of cash in six years,” he said. The operating expenses were rising due to the considerable amount of work being done for centres. “We will have to give consideration to farming out the national championships to a better or more fruitful venue,” he added.
