Recent auger price rises are still having an effect on the price of lines with a big sugar content Latest rises take in confectionery, preserved ginger, glace and crystallised cherries and cut peel. Manufacturers are now

constantly releasing advice of price changes and some grocers are having difficulty keeping pace with the new ■prices. The Queen's Birthday holiday on Monday has cut back the trading week and both retaUecs and wholesalers have been working to make up the lost day.

Dried Fruit*.—Shipping delays m Australia have held up shipments of dried fruits to New Zeeland and these may not now reach here before the end of the current licensing period on June 30. Peanuts.—Some countries supplying peanuts to New Zealand are experiencing poor crops and placing restrictions on supplies Australia, where the nuts are bfing harvested just now. expects a poor crop, while South Africa is restricting exports. India is quoting for prompt delivery but it is the end of the season there and the peanuts may not be of top quality.

Antiseptic.—Lavender antiseptic. released on to the New Zealand market some months ago. has met with reasonable success. Now an eight-ounce P«<*. at 2s 9d. is available. This is a new stronger formula that will aleo be available in the larger size when new stocks come to hand.
