Trueman, broke the West Indies opening partnership with the score at 37 when the first cricket test began at Old Trafford today. C. Hunte and M. Carew opened the batting after West Indies had won the toss, and when he had scored 16, Carew was caught by the wicketkeeper, K. V. Andrew, off Trueman. Hunte was then 21 not out.
