AUSTRALIAN CONTRACT

An agreement for the supply of Australian sugar to Japan for three years to June, 1967, was announced today.
Between 350,000 tons and 450,000 tons will be shipped each year, the actual quantity beinfe fixed annually by mutual agreement. The contract tonnage represents about a third • of Japan’s sugar imports. The agreement will benefit the Australian sugar industry by providing an assured market in Japan for several years ahead for about a third of Australia’s present sugar export tonnage.
