A former American football coach, Claude King, took the lead after 36 holes in the Speedway Festival open golf tournament yesterday with a six-under-scratch 65 for a 132 total. Associated Press reported. King’s round gave him a one-stroke lead over Fred Hawkins, who had a 69 yesterday. The qualifiers for the third round include R. J. Charles, of New Zealand, who had a 71 in the second round for an aggregate of 140. one stroke under the qualifying round.
