UNITED STATES EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION IN NEW ZEALAND TRAVEL GRANTS 1964 FULBRIGHT PROGRAMME THE UNITED STATES EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION IN NEW ZEALAND invites applications for 22 Travel Grants from New Zealand citizens who intend to study in the United States during the 1964-65 academic year, and who undertake to return to New Zealand. Grants vail be alioeated as follows: (a) 13 to Students now holding a University degree and planning a post-gradu-ate course at an American university. (b) 4 to Teachers. Applicants are referred to inlorinatlon published in the May Issue of the Education Gazette. (c) 3 to Research Scholars. These are for persons of standing in tneir field planning approximately five to nine months' advanced research at postdoctoral level. (d) 2 to Visiting Lecturers who have been, or may expect to be. invited to teach at an American university. BENEFITS: These cover return fares from the grantee's home to the town in which the university of his choice is located. FINANCIAL SUPPORT IN THE UNITED STATES: As this may be the only competition for those planning to begin studies in the United States in the 1964-65 academic year, candidates are urged to applv now without waiting to obtain the evidence of dollar support and affiliation to an Institution of higher learning, which will ultimately be required before an award can be made. The Foundation's experience is that New Zealand Graduate Students with a first-class academic record can apply for scholarships with very good prospects of success. Those provisionally chosen by the Screening Committee will be advised how to apply for scholarship aid, If necessary. DURATION OF STAY: Students may remain In the United States for three years, subject to their obtaining satisfactory dollar support and continuing to do good work.
