Quotes For New Frigate
(N.Z. Press Association) ■ AUCKLAND, May 29.
The Governmerw expected to get quotes for building a new Leander class frigate for the New Zealand Navy within the next few weeks, the Minister of Defence (Mr Eyre) said in Auckland today. The estimated cost of the frigate—it will be an improved version of the two Whitby frigates now in service—is £6,000,000. However, it is understood the price may have jumped another £500,000 since the specifications were written.
