(N.Z P A.-Reuter—Copyripno DURBAN. May 30 More than 100 screaming Africans wielding sticks, bottles and stones attacked the Bantu Administration Building in the Durban African township of Kwa Mashu. late lasi night
Four of the eight em ployees in the building were injured, one of them seriously African staff trom elsewhere in the township dispersed the rioters with batons before armed police arrived Some of the rioters were injured but none was admitted to hospital The building was undamaged One oi the administration staff who was tn the building said later that a number of Africans arres’ed on Tues lay for not paying their ren' were released yesterday norning and returned to their ownship hostel He said between 100 and .nil Africans streamed out of he hostel las' night towards he Admims ration Building They were selling ano screaming ano brandishing -ticks ant* bottles As they got near they picked up stones and hurled them a us “ he said “We ran inside and were cornered there.
