Adjustable Glass

(N.Z.P. A.-Reuter—Copyright) l6ndon.

Self-darkening glass, a revolutionary discovery, adjusts itself to the , intensity of light anywhere. Sunglasses fitted with it and worn in the house are clear; outside, they are darker. In the words of the magazine “Discovery,” the new glass “promises to bring about a technical revolution which will’ soon be affecting the lives of every one of us.” The glass could also be used in shop windows to prevent' goods becoming, sunbleached. It can be used in the home to protect carpets and curtains from the sun.

And—adds “Discovery”—it could- be adapted for use in military clothing to give protection against nuclear flash, and fo the windows of space ships as protection against dangerous ultra-violet rays.
