Cricket WEST INDIES CABLE HOME

Injury List Serious

(N Z.P.A .-Reuter—Copyright) LONDON, May 28. With the first test starting next week, the West Indies team has decided to cable home asking for reinforcements to replace injured players. “We are sending off a cable today in view of the serious position,” said Mr B. Gaskin, the team manager. He declined to name any player he might have in mind as a replacement. The first test between England and the West Indies will start at Manchester on June 6. W. Rodriguez, the tourists’ latest casualty, is almost certain to need an operation on his injured knee, which would keep him out for six weeks. Among the batsmen, S Nurse has a hamstring injury, F. Worrell and R. Kanhai have knee strains, and C. Hunte has stitches in a head wound. In addition, the wicketkeeper, D. Allan, has influenza.
