MEAT FROM CHATHAMS
Airport Sites Studied (N.Z Press Association) WELLINGTON. May 21. Three possible aerodrome sites have been selected in the Chatham Islands for use in connexion with a proposal to fly meat from the islands to Wellington. Two of the sites- are on roads, the third would require roading to be built to it. and all will undergo further investigation before a selection is made
The sites were selected during a visit to the Chathams last week by the general manager of Straits Air Freight Express, Mr D. P Lynskey. On his return to Wellington from the islands today Mr Lynskey said there was no doubt about the Ohathams potential. The islanders had oeen most co-operative in helping him with the preliminary investigation and were keen to see the proposed service established.
Accompanying Mr Lynskey were Mr E Madden, who recently retired from the Agriculture Department, with extensive knowledge of the Chatham Islands, and Mr J Steele, controller of flight operations and Civil Aviation Administration.
