COMMAND IN MALAYA

Lt. Col. Gurr Appointed (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. May 17 Lieutenant - Colonel R M Gurr has been appointed to command the 2nd Battalion New Zealand Regiment which will relieve the Ist Battalion in Malaya in November

Colonel Gurr left today by RN” A.F aircraft to visi' the Ist Battalian He wil' also be an observer at the S E A T O ground forces exercise in Thailand early next mouth.

A former deputy assistant adjutant general at Northern Military District Headquarters. Colonel Gurr has spent the last two days at the Australian Army Staff College Before that, he was for three years a member of the Army liaison mission in London and he held a number of staff and command appointments in New Zealand
