Governor’s Aide Engaged

(N.Z* Press Assn.—Copyright) LONDON, May 13. The engagement was announced today of Captain the Hon. John Dewar, aide-de-camp to the New Zealand Governor-General (Sir Bernard Fergusson), and Lady Elisabeth Waldegrave, the “Daily Telegraph” reported. Captain Dewar, who is 25, is the heir and elder son of I.ord Forteviot and ’ Lady Forteviot, of Dupplin Castle. Perthshire. Lady Elisabeth Waldegrave. who is 27. is the third daughter of Earl and Countess Waldegrave, of Bath, Somerset. The couple are both on the staff of the GovernorGeneral, and have known each, other for about eight months. Captain Dewar said in Wellington tihe wedding would probably be in London some time this year. Lady Elisabeth Waldegrave is a niece of Lady Fergusson and accompanied her to New Zealand as lady-in-waiting in November. Captain Dewair’s father is chairman of John Dewar and Sons, Ltd., of Perth, and was earlier in the firm's London office. |
