NEW U.A.R. FORMING

(N.ZP. A.-Reuter—Copyright) BEIRUT. May 13. Major - General Ahmed Hassan Bakr, who resigned as Iraqi Prime Minister on Saturday, has formed a new Government, Bagdad Radio announced early today. The former cabinet, appointed after last February’s coup which overthrew the Kassem regime, was predominantly Ba’athist, with strong pro-Nasser feelings. The Cabinet resigned within a few hours of the resignation of the Syria Cabinet which, with Iraq and Egypt, is to form the new United Arab Republic. A new Syrian Government has not yet been formed. General Bakr sai. Iraq’s adhesion to the new U.A.R. was a new stage in the life of the Iraqi revolution requiring a “new basis for choosing a proper new Government.”

Dr. Mussara Al-Rawi becomes Minister of State for Federal Union Affairs, a new portfolio. The minor changes in the new Government allow the Be’ath party to retain its domination.

‘Corpse’ Found Alive (N.Z. Press Assn.— Copyright) MELBOURNE, May 13. An English immigrant. Allan Edward Brennan, aged 34, known as Sydney’s “walking corpse” was found by police in Melbourne today. Believed to have emigrated from Liverpool, Brennan officially is dead. A corpse found under the floor of a small-goods shop he ran at Concord, a Sydney suburb, last November was buried under his name. Three Sydney men told the police recently that they had seen Brennan alive. Brennan then became the subject of one of Australia's most concentrated police searches.

The corpse has not yet been identified.
