401 Bushels For Province The economics section of the Department of Agriculture, in Christchurch, has issued an estimate of 40.48 bushels to the acre as the average wheat yield in Canterbury’s last harvest. The figure is based on a sample of actual yields in each of the three regions of North, Mid and South Canterbury. with the over-all pr-jduction in eech region being calculated on the estimated acreages published late last year by the Census and Satstics Department. The average calculated on the same basis in the 1961-62 season was 40.79 bushels to the acre. The actual over-all average for the samples taken by the I

department in each region was 40.67 bushels, compared with 41.14 bushels in the previous season. The regional averages were: North Canterbury, 35} bushels: Mid-Canterbury, 40 bushels; South Canterbury. 47 bushels.
