The stability of crossbred prices through the final round of South Island sales is shown in this graph prepared by the New Zealand Wool Board. The fourth-round sales were, in order: Christchurch, Invercargill and Dunedin. The fleece wools shown are good-average carding length, and the second shear is firsts, average. Not shown are fine wools, which at Christchurch and Dunedin were in strong demand. Medium halfbreds, which have risen steadily throughout the season, are more than 8d above opening rates and 6d above this round last season. Merinos, which have been fairly stable in price, are more than 2d above the average for the season.
