Tailman, whose late-hour thirst got him stuck in the chimney of his favourite tavern, got a break and a few words on sobriety in the criminal court here. Judge Jack A. Falk reduced the charge against Tallman from “breaking and entering” to “criminal trespass.” and put him on a year’s probation. “The condition being,” said the Judge, “that you do not get drunk any more, since that’s evidently your problem.” Tailman, aged 40 climbed down the chimney of Jimmy’s Bar and Package Store in the small hours Three hours later, policespitting soot and ’ venting indignation—chiseled him j free. Since then, he has been j in the county gaol. “I told them right away 1 didn’t want to press charges,” said the bar’s owner, James Schumaker “He is a good customer. He has been coming in for nine years; though never like this before.”
