Snell Begins Honeymoon
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. May 12. The world champion athlete, P G Snell, left Auckland this afternoon on his overseas honeymoon—and to run in several mile races in California. Snell and his bride. formerly Miss Sally Turner, were married at Christ Church, Papakura. on Saturday afternoon. A big pile of congratulatory telegrams at the reception in ’he church hall emphasised the interest in the wedding Before reading the messages, Snell’s best man, the Olympic 500 metres champion. M G Halberg, admitted that he was confronted with a “marathon.” - Messages ranged from the Australian John Landy, a former world mile-record holder, the Governor-Genera) 'Sir Bernard Fergusson’ the residents of Peter Snell street.
