WAIKATO HURDLES
Peacemaker Has Form (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. May 10. Runners like Peacemaker, Cretan, Splice, Erey and Lord Oman should ensure a scorching pace in the £1750 Waikato Hurdles at Te Rapa tomorrow. Each, as well as being an accomplished jumper, has made open company on the fiat. Peacemaker and Splice, in particular, seem to be right at the top of their form again. Peacemaker, from Woodville. Splice, from Marton, and Elrey. from Awapuni, are among a crowd of well-performed visiting horses at Te Rapa, whose presence is investing the jumping races with widespread interest. Others are Blue Rock and Kenloch. Last week-end. on the first day of the Waikato meeting, Peacemaker won the Peach Jumpers' Flat over 11 furlongs. Splice, at about the same time, won the main race, over 10 furlongs and 83 yards, at Woodville. Two starts before, Peacemaker won over hurdles at Hastings. Spliee won the Trentham Hurdles last winter and the Collinson Hurdles at Awapuni. ■ Besides the Waikato Hurdles, important Items tomorrow will be the Vercoe Steeplechase, in which Golden Defaulter, Triple Score and Braemar are notable, and the President's Handicap. The President’s Handicap, of £lOOO. 11 furlongs, and the Stewards' Handicap, of £BOO. seven furlongs, will be the T.A B. double.
