The dockyard is responsible for the maintenance of the modern ships of the Royal New Zealand Navy, and is engaged on work that is interesting and varied. It has a wide range of superb equipment, and work there will appeal to the man I who wants to develop his skill and find satisfaction in his work. Job and general conditions are excellent, sea and shore transport is quick and convenient, and in some circumstances married‘ accommodation is available for up to 18 months. The men required are: Electrical Fitters with experience in ship wiring (including radio equipment), in the removal, reinstallation, and repair on board of electrical equipment, or in general workshop duties, including the repair and overhaul of electrical equipment. Registered electricians with experience in shore wiring installation and the maintenance of yard electrical plant including machine tools cranes, reticulation of AC and DC power supplies, or the repair and testing of all types of AC and DC instruments, including electronic equipment. Turners and/or Fitters and Turners. Indentured tradesmen with marine and/or precision engineering experience preferred. Shipwrights and Boilermakers.
