LUNGE WITH KNIFE
Man Remanded In Custody (N.Z. Press Association) NELSON, May 10. A 22-year-old man. Roger Jack Camden, who attacked a workmate with a sheath knife at Golden Downs, was remanded in custody until Monday by Mr G. A. Nicholls, S.M., in the Nelson Magistrate’s Court today after he had pleaded guilty to a charge of assault with intent to injure. Sergeant P. W. Matheson said Camden, a forestry worker, had used a sheath knife in an attack on Robert Henry Brady. About 6.30 p.m. yesterday Brady and a friend had been having a drink in Brady’s hut when Camden appeared in the doorway with the knife in his hand. He Mid, •‘l’ll do you.” He made an upward thrust at Brady, who dodged the blow.
In a struggle. Brady managed to take the knife from Camden, but received a gash on the nose which required three stitches. Camden was under the influence of liquor at the time, said the sergeant. Camden told the Magistrate he had nothing to say. Camden was then remanded for a probation officer’s report.
