£12,000 Raised In Canterbury
Juat on £12.000 had been collected for the C.OJLS.O. Freedom from Hunger appeal in the Christchurch district the local organiser (Mr G. Coley) said on Monday. Returns from the appeal conducted on Saturday were still coming in and it was expected they would continue to come in for about another two weeks. Mr Coley said it was difficult at this stage to draw comparisons with last year’s appeal. The Freedom from Hunger campaign did not end until December 31 and schools and other organisations often carried out projects for funds for the campaign between now and the end of the year.
