Cricket G. Bartlett To Play In City

The former New Zealand fast bowler. G. A. Bartlett, will play cricket in Christchurch next summer. Bartlett, who was thought to be coming to Christchurch after the 1961-62 tour of South Africa, has accepted a position with a Christchurch firm, and is expected to begin work soon.

Bartlett made his first-class debut in 1958-59, but the following season was his most suc-

cessful. He represented New Zealand in all four unofficial test matches against the Australian touring team and had bowling figures of five for 51 in his first appearance for New Zealand. Playing in Plunket shield matches for Central Districts that season, he made 99 not out against Auckland and took the hat-trick in the match with Northern Districts. It is not known for which club Bartlett will play, but he has stated his preference for West Christchurch-University or the senior champions, Riccarton.
