Cricket N.Z. TERMS ACCEPTED

South African Tour

South Africa had accepted New Zealand’s terms for the proposed tour of New Zealand next summer, with a request for a guarantee, and he had no doubt the arrangements would be approved at a meeting of the New Zealand Board of Control to be held within the next fortnight, said the chairman of the board (Mr J. L. Kerr) yesterday. The South African authorities had wanted to make the tour on the basis of taking 50 per cent, of the outer gate receipts, said Mr Kerr. That was usual in cricket countries other than New Zealand. The New Zealand board had asked for South African agreement on taking 25 per cent, of the gross gate, which was the arrangement made with the M.C.C. last summer Mr Kerr said that the M.C.C.. on its four-match tour, liad taken £6OOO as its share of the gross gate. It was the first team to take a share of the gate on a New Zealand tour.

Previously, New Zealand had paid all the expenses of touring teams and had taken all the gate receipts.
