Mr Swaney Loses
Position
Selectors for the Country Rugby team this year are Messrs C R. Watson (North Canterbury) and D K. Coleman (Ellesmere) The appointments were approved by the executive of the Canterbury Rugby Sub-Unions after a ballot to decide the back selector The forward selector. Mr Watson, was re-elected unopposed Mr Coleman gained the backs selection over .Mr H Swaney (Banks Peninsula), who had held the position since 1959 Before that Mr Swaney had been a selector for the Southern Zone, w'hen trials were played for the final selection of the Country side Mr Swaney was associated with the selection of the 1960 Country team, which had an unbeaten record on a tour against some of the Seddon Shield districts, while last year Country beat Town
