U.S. Rules For U.N. Trot

NEW YORK. April 25. New Zealand's leading trotter. When, will battle four American and three other foreign entries for world trotting supremacy at Yonkers Raceway tonight, the Associated Press reported. In the grand finale of the 150.000-doUar International series, the ho-ses go to the post in the 60.000-doliar United Nations Trot over one mile and a half. A 5/2 early fiavourite is the American horse, Orbiter, which won the Gotham Trot over one mile and a quarter two weeks ago. Another American, Su Mac Lad, the world's leading
money-winning harness horse, is second choice at 7/2.
The two leading foreign contenders, Firestar. of Italy, and When, had poor luck in the draw, taking No. 7 and No. 8 posts respectively When lost to Firestar tn last week's Transoceanic Trot at Yonkers Firestar is cc-third choice with Duke Rodney (U.S ), at 9/2 Other entries are: France's MinareUe H_ Merrie Duke and Belgium's Ravioli. United Press International said a factor working against the foreign entrants was the insistence of Yonkers officials that American racing rules be observed.
In the Transoceanic, which matched eight foreign horses, it was a battle of rough, crossing driving with Firestar several times swinging wide to prevent When or others from passing No protests were filed since the drivers were accustomed
to the tactics, the agency said However, the drivers were called into conference by the track stewards this week and the United States rules carefully explained. They were also shown patrol films of infractions.
The foreign drivers were warned that any such driving tonight would bring a foul claim from the United States drivers and that the claims probably would be upheld.
